Baseball Game Preview: Carle Place Frogs vs. Friends Academy Quakers

For the second straight game, Carle Place will face off against Friends Academy. The Frogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Quakers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Carle Place has four straight victories, Friends Academy has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Carle Place is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Friends Academy with a sharp 15-4 win on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Thomas Schoch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Carle Place got a massive performance out of Tyler Marquart, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave Marquart a new career-high in RBI (two). Philip Bunt was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Carle Place was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Carle Place pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Friends Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
