Eldorado is 1-9 against Sandia since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will take on the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sandia will be up against a hot Eldorado team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over Manzano on Saturday.
Zoe Green was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Green was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Shannon Harrison was incredible, firing off four doubles, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mya Zamora, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Eldorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in six consecutive games.
Capital typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Sandia proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 20-0 shutout. That looming 20-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Matadors yet this season.
Like Eldorado, Sandia also got a great game from a two-way player: Liliana Villanueva. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Villanueva was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Steph Brooks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Iliana Lujan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Sandia is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Eldorado, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like Sandia struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Sandia in their previous matchup last Saturday. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
