The Southeast Pirates will be home for the holidays to greet the Rootstown Rovers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeast will stroll in with a six game home winning streak (dating back to last season), but they should still watch out: the last time they lost at home was their February 8 matchup with Rootstown.
Last Saturday, Southeast came up short against Western Reserve and fell 45-37. The loss put an end to Southeast's undefeated start to the season.
Rootstown aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Monday extended their overall winning streak to seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Independence 62-27 on the road. The result was nothing new for Rootstown, who have now won five matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Rootstown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Colbie Curall, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Nadia Lough, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Curall is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn McIntyre, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Rootstown, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Southeast might still be hurting after the 55-30 loss they got from Rootstown in their previous meeting back in February. Can Southeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
