This season hasn't been kind to the Central Bears, who are still winless after their 16th contest. They had to suffer through a rough 66-13 loss at the hands of Weeki Wachee. Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Delanee Duncan, who scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Weeki Wachee racked up 14 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Weeki Wachee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joelys Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Marlee Schumacher was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Central's loss was their 19th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Weeki Wachee, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.
Central and Citrus will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Citrus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Thursday. As for Weeki Wachee, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Crystal River at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Crystal River has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
