South Mecklenburg came out on top against Ardrey Kell by a score of 63-55 on Friday. That's two games straight that South Mecklenburg has won by exactly eight points.
South Mecklenburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Peter Moye, who scored 21 points. Moye has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anderson Skelton, who scored 19 points.
Ardrey Kell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brett Freeman, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Freeman posted two or more blocks. Delani Hammonds was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Ardrey Kell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Mecklenburg only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
South Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Ardrey Kell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Mecklenburg will challenge Myers Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ardrey Kell, they will head out on the road to face off against Olympic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ardrey Kell's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
