The Springstead Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Citrus Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Springstead: 3.1, Citrus: 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Springstead took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Central as Springstead made off with a 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Dalton Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Ward, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nathaniel Sabino was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Springstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Citrus came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let Lake Weir get on the board and left with a 7-0 win.
Cole Lawrence looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Citrus let Waylon Williamson and Tristan Beck run wild. Williamson scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-2, while Beck scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Trae Hopkins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Springstead is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Citrus' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4.
Springstead was able to grind out a solid win over Citrus when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 7-2. Will Springstead repeat their success, or does Citrus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
