The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Pendleton County Wildcat at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Pendleton County will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Tygarts Valley extended their winning streak to five on Monday. The Bulldogs blew past Webster County 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Adam Woods was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Tygarts Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Tygarts Valley got a massive performance out of Austin Gear, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gear is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Noah Mcatee also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Tygarts Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Webster County only posted an OBP of .346.
Meanwhile, Pendleton County got the win against Pocahontas County on Monday by a conclusive 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcat.
Chase Owens and Caleb Armentrout did most of the damage at the plate: Owens went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Armentrout got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Cashton Kisamore was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Tygarts Valley's record is now 14-7. As for Pendleton County, their record now sits at 8-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tygarts Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pendleton County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tygarts Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Pendleton County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
