4A Plains recap Oct. 3, 2012
Wheat Ridge extended the longest winning streak in 4A Plains this week by beating Montbello, 27-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Farmers.
Dakota Ridge took down Grand Junction Central 58-26 last week, the largest margin of any game. Zac Koch threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 26 yards in the win.
Dillon DeLauro made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Eagles defeated the Warriors. The junior pulled down one interception.
Jake Bergman was the best wideout in the league this week as Littleton beat Golden. Bergman tallied six receptions for 147 yards. Austin Bieber helped Littleton's passing attack out by catching one ball for 34 yards.
Jayse Schipper was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 117 yards on 20 carries as Kennedy defeated the Demons. Teammate Daniel Henriquez added to the ground attack by rushing for eight yards.
Thanks to the talents of Koch and Aaron Nelson Dakota Ridge has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Koch leads the league in passing with 938 yards, while Nelson has rushed for 625 yards this season. Littleton's Bergman leads the league in receiving yards with 459 on 28 catches.
Two of the top units in 4A Plains will face off this week when Denver South takes on Jay Lukes's team. The Rebels' offense has racked up 196 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Lions have allowed only 234 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Green Mountain takes on Ron Woitalewicz 's team. The Rams are currently in second, while the Eagles are in fourth.
Littleton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,555 from 12,900. The improvement came about via a 34-27 victory over Golden last week.
