ALFONSO CASTELLANOS of Wilder ran for the longest rushing play in 1A Long Pin (8 Man) this season against Cascade last week. CASTELLANOS's team topped the Ramblers as he sprinted for 61 yards on the play and finished with 131 in all.
CASTELLANOS and CASEY DILLON provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Cascade. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 86 yards.
Wilder's dynamic duo of CASTELLANOS and DILLON proved tough for Pal Sartori's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. CASTELLANOS threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns and DILLON had 121 yards receiving. JAIME MIRAMONTES helped Wilder's passing attack out by catching four balls for 118 yards.
David C Bengoa made the biggest impact on defense this week as Garden Valley bested Tri-Valley. The junior forced two fumbles and recorded one fumble.
Nate Henderson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 391 yards on 25 carries as Council defeated the Ramblers. Teammate Mick Wilson added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.
5-foot-7 quarterback CASTELLANOS of the Wildcats is the league leader in passing yards this season with 414. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, the Lumberjacks' Henderson has rushed for 911 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lance Jones. The Garden Valley star has 16 catches for 279 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Wilder and Salmon River. The Wildcats enters the contest ranked 14th in the state, while the Savages ranks 12th.
Council's Henderson needs only 89 yards against the Wolverines next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Wilder extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cascade, 60-22. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wildcats.
