It was a good run, but the Kennedy Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 85-64 walloping at the hands of Moreau Catholic. While losing is never fun, Kennedy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while Moreau Catholic is ranked 127th).
Despite the defeat, Kennedy had strong showings from Will Dorsey, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Adrian Velazquez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Velazquez has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 16 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Shin, who scored three points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moreau Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Loud, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kareem Jackson Jr., who scored 16 points.
Kennedy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11. As for Moreau Catholic, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7.
Kennedy will take on James Logan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season.
