The Pine Creek Eagles will challenge the Cheyenne Mountain Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Pine Creek came up short against Mullen and fell 7-3. The loss put an end to the Eagles' undefeated start to the season.
Jake Holm made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Tristan Mullis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Cheyenne Mountain, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They came out on top against Fountain-Fort Carson by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won seven in a row.
Colton Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Reickert, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Hayes Ressler, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Cheyenne Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain-Fort Carson only posted an OBP of .273.
The victory got Cheyenne Mountain back to even at 3-3. As for Pine Creek, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pine Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pine Creek couldn't quite finish off Cheyenne Mountain in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 9-7. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
