We've seen a lot of half-court buzzer beaters in our day, but none quite like this.
At the end of the third quarter in a game against St. Pius X,
Dustin Gaddis of
Sandia Prep (Albuquerque, N.M.) made one of the most unbelievable shots you'll see on a basketball court.
With about two seconds left on the clock, St. Pius X tried to inbound the ball with long pass towards half-court. The receiving player mishandled the pass and the ball bounced into the air.
Gaddis jumped, gained control of the ball with his right hand and, while still in the air and falling away from the basket, fired the ball toward the hoop.
The crowd and players were in disbelief when the ball went through the net.
"Everyone in crowd began cheering and my head coach, Willie Owens, just began laughing," said Gaddis. "I was just in disbelief that it actually went in."
Gaddis, a junior, is averaging 19.3 points per game this season and said he is drawing interest from Davidson, Grand Canyon University and Colorado School of Mines, among others. He added that he had never made a shot like that before in his life.
Sandia Prep lost the game, 59-41, but Gaddis and everyone in attendance will surely never forget it.
