The Avant Garde Academy Sharks fell victim to the Chaminade-Madonna Lions''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 64-0 loss at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, Avant Garde Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked first).
Max Bissainthe threw for 56 yards on three of seven attempts. Jimmyri Burton was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Davion Gause was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. Gause was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Javarius Robinson, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Avant Garde Academy to a paltry 84 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chaminade-Madonna's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 10.5 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Avant Garde Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Chaminade-Madonna, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Avant Garde Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Somerset Prep at 7:00 p.m. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they will head out on the road to face off against St. John Paul II Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for St. John Paul II Academy: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Chaminade-Madonna has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
