The Northeast Raiders can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They snuck past Kendrick with a 59-53 victory. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Northeast did.
It was another big night for Jatavion Zellner, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hill, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Kendrick saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Giles scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Giles has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Spivey, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Northeast's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-12. As for Kendrick, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-12.
Northeast will take on Spencer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Spencer's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Kendrick, they will head out on the road to square off against Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kendrick in Georgia (Southwest is ranked 203rd, while Kendrick is ranked 529th).
