The Alamosa Mean Moose's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 35-24 to Pueblo County. Alamosa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pueblo County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Alamosa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Rothermich, who scored four points along with two blocks. Rothermich hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaelin Garcia, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Leading Pueblo County to victory were Rylee Stupnik and Zoey Stupnik. Stupnik dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Stupnik dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stupnik has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charli Kirkland, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Alamosa's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Pueblo County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Alamosa will head out on the road to take on Ignacio at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Ignacio is ranked 128th, while Alamosa is ranked 118th). As for Pueblo County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
