COMPTON, Calif. -
Jordan (Long Beach, Calif.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 44-28 win over
Compton (Calif.).
The Panthers scored 14 points in the first quarter. Jordan scored on a touchdown run by
Marquise Mcguire and a touchdown pass by
Kamren Booker to
John Ross.
JHS was up 30-22 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Mcguire in the first quarter.
The Long Beach school expanded its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. The Panthers scored three times in the third, including once on a Mcguire touchdown run.
Mcguire was the top performer for Jordan. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
A 38-18 Jordan victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Panthers, which was coming off a 47-12 defeat at the hands of Lakewood in its previous game.
In a Moore game next week Compton (2-7) takes on Millikan, and Jordan (4-5) will go up against Woodrow Wilson also in a Moore game.
