Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Michigan Lutheran). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers on Tuesday. Ty Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Michigan Lutheran is undefeated when Johnson allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Ben Liebich was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Micah Herbst, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Michigan Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Michigan Lutheran back to even at 7-7. As for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
