The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Mallory Blackwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Sikes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Anisten Kurlander, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Fleming Island hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.
Keystone Heights' loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Fleming Island, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Everything went Keystone Heights' way against Fleming Island when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Keystone Heights made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
