This season hasn't been kind to The Woodland Wolfpack, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were dealt a 56-0 defeat at the hands of Stockbridge on Friday. While losing is never fun, Woodland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 341st, while Stockbridge is ranked 52nd).
Jayden "duke" Scott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stockbridge, rushing for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Scott is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mike Simms, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Stockbridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Jared Anthony and Kam Reese who racked up five sacks between them.
Woodland's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.3 points per game. As for Stockbridge, the win was the sixth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland will take on Mt. Zion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Zion comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Stockbridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
