Baseball Game Preview: Denbigh Patriots vs. Woodside Wolverines

For the second straight game, Denbigh will face off against Woodside. The Patriots will face off against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Denbigh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Denbigh will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Woodside, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Patriots came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 9-6 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Liam Blazek was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Denbigh is undefeated when Blazek posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Annier Morel, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Denbigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Denbigh back to even at 5-5. As for Woodside, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Denbigh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
