The Franklin Cougars were the 58-45 winner over the Eastwood Troopers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Franklin received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 58-44 to Eastwood. Franklin has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Despite the loss, Franklin still got an impressive performance from Caitlynn Clark, who scored 30 points along with six steals. That was a full 68.2% of Franklin's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Amaya Williams was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds for Eastwood. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Abigail Ortega, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Franklin's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-7. As for Eastwood, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 24-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on El Dorado at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado is coming into the contest with three straight losses on the road, meaning Franklin will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Eastwood, they will be playing at home against Eastlake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 177 points over their last three matches.
