East Surry got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Nathan Kiger out in front who rushed for 106 yards and three  TDs on only eight carries. Those  three  rushing touchdowns gave  Kiger a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was  Jon Hutchens, who rushed for 74 yards and a pair of  scores on only seven carries.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Surry was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 280  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Surry Central only  rushed for 11.
 Meanwhile,  North Surry unfortunately witnessed the end of their  four-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through  a    63-21 loss at the hands of Mount Airy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest  defeat the Greyhounds have suffered  since August 23, 2024.
 North Surry's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for East Surry, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
 East Surry skirted past North Surry  27-24 in their previous meeting  back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
