Softball Recap: South Bronx Community Starts off Right with Win over Varsity Opponent

South Bronx Community took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over Varsity Opponent. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Delilah Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing six bases while going 1-for-1. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, South Bronx Community got a massive performance out of Taliyah Caceres, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nicole Santos-Pe?a, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Varsity Opponent didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 18-17 win against Martin Luther on the 9th.
