Football Recap: Space Coast Skates Past Cocoa Beach with Ease

Space Coast won the last time they faced Cocoa Beach and things went their way on Friday too. The Vipers claimed a resounding 48-21 win over the Minutemen. The result was nothing new for the Vipers, who have now won three games by 27 points or more so far this season.

Space Coast found their leader in sophomore Zion Sandy, who threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards and one score. Those 324 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Sandy. 117 of Sandy's passing yards were hauled in by Kadyn Thomas.

Space Coast's run defense was locked in: Cocoa Beach could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Bradyn Cook stood above the rest. He rushed for 42 yards and a pair of TDs, and also caught one touchdown. Space Coast didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Space Coast's defense didn't let Remy Vigne, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Javier Shivers, Kole Gamble, and Charlie Williams, who each picked up one sack apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Cocoa Beach lost, don't look at Vigne. Despite the final result, he threw for 268 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground.

The victory made it two in a row for Space Coast and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Cocoa Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Space Coast didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 21-7 victory against Bayside on the 3rd. As for Cocoa Beach, they have also already played their next game, a 35-7 loss against Viera on the 3rd.
