The McDonough Warhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Stockbridge, posting a 72-30 victory on the road. Given McDonough's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Stockbridge is ranked 484th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Keenan Gray, who scored 32 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The match was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zion Greene, who scored 15 points.
McDonough pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Stockbridge, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
McDonough will be playing at home against Mt. Zion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jaki Bell and Gray. As for Stockbridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Lovett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Stockbridge likes a good challenge.
