The York Dukes will square off against the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. York is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
While York's victory against Lyons wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dukes' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 2-0 shutout on Friday.
The result came thanks to Sophia Lanciloti's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayla Winters, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten games. Lillianah Burda was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
IC Catholic Prep came out on top against Fenwick on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Knights walked away with an 8-5 win over the Friars.
Madelynn Dinino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Isabella Jelic was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kelly Cahill, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
York pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs across that stretch. As for IC Catholic Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. York has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like IC Catholic Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
York came out on top in a nail-biter against IC Catholic Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Dukes repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
