After flying high against the Corinth Holders Pirates last Friday, the Cleveland Rams came back down to earth. Cleveland fell just short of Garner by a score of 78-76. While losing is never fun, Cleveland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Garner is ranked 71st).
When it comes to explaining why Cleveland lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Jabari Green. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. Talan Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Cleveland's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Garner, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Cleveland will face off against South Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully South Garner focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. Garner won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Leesville Road at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th.
