The Galesburg Silver Streaks will face off against the Kewanee Boilermakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kewanee took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Galesburg, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Galesburg made easy work of Rock Island and carried off an 11-5 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Silver Streaks have posted against the Rocks since April 23, 2022.
Nico Ojeda made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jameson Dickerson and Tyree Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Dickerson went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Taylor went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Dickerson is becoming a predictor of Galesburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 7-16 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Alfred Ayala, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Kewanee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Farmington, falling 13-3.
Kewanee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Peed, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Galesburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-17 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Kewanee, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-18.
