Hillcrest extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-5 loss back in March.
As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games.
For Highland's part, Hayden Hyslip was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Hyslip has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Mason Sinclair was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Keagan Statler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Hillcrest nor Highland have any future games scheduled.
