Monroe is 2-8 against Franklin since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Monroe Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Franklin Wildcats at 7:15 p.m.
After a string of three wins, Monroe's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 51-35 bruising from Waynesville. Monroe has struggled against Waynesville recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Franklin entered their tilt with Carlisle with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Franklin secured a 54-48 W over Carlisle on Tuesday.
Kai Cook was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Franklin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tito Harrison, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Monroe now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Franklin, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Monroe couldn't quite finish off Franklin when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 47-44. Can Monroe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
