The biggest upset of the week belonged to Southwest Edgecombe, who took down 98th ranked Beddingfield, 32-13.
Tarboro extended the longest winning streak in 2A Eastern Plains this week by beating Greene Central, 47-16. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Vikings.
Kinston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. VeQuain Joyner threw for 206 and two touchdowns and Tiquan Canady had 87 yards receiving. On the ground George Jones chipped in 157 yards. Denzel Keyes helped Kinston's passing attack out by catching four balls for 39 yards.
Kinston's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joyner has thrown for 1259 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Josh Dawson has 16 catches for 274 yards. Jones leads the league in rushing with 535 yards.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Tarboro and the Vikings meet this week. Jeff Craddock's team features well-regarded senior Tyquan Lewis while Kinston has Brian Manuel, a sought after defensive lineman.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Vikings take on Nick Anderson's team. As it stands, Tarboro is in first, while the Vikings are in fourth.
North Pitt took down Northern Vance 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
