Rockingham County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Eastern Guilford Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Rockingham County pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a rough 82-59 loss at the hands of Ben L. Smith. Rockingham County has not had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nicholas Rumbley, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Johnson, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Eastern Guilford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 63-46 to High Point Central.
Rockingham County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Eastern Guilford, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Rockingham County beat the Wildcats 67-54 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rockingham County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
