Brownfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Lubbock Christian Eagles at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Brownfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 874th, while Lubbock Christian is ranked 287th).
Last Tuesday, Brownfield was beaten by Littlefield 76-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brownfield in their matchups with Littlefield: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Brownfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kk Fininen, who scored four points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Lucy Guzman, who scored nine points.
Brownfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Even though Lubbock Christian has not done well against Shallowater recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Lubbock Christian came out on top against Shallowater by a score of 45-38.
Brownfield's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Lubbock Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Brownfield came up short against Lubbock Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 46-35. Can Brownfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
