Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wellsboro). They blew past the Northwest Area Rangers 55-8 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.

Marek Mascho continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 66 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 71 receiving yards and one TD. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another passer making a difference was Griffin Morral, who threw for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight passes.

Wellsboro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kody Enck and Vincent Arena. Enck also punched in a rushing touchdown, marking his first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Northwest Area lost, don't look at Shane Hempel. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and one score. Hempel has become a key player for the Rangers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 0-6 otherwise.

Wellsboro now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Northwest Area, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Wellsboro will venture away from home to challenge North Penn-Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northwest Area, they will head out to take on South Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
