Softball Recap: Northwest Christian Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Northwest Christian never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Gilbert Christian Knights. Considering the Crusaders have won ten contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Caylie Thomas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thomas was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Katie Gillette looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Kinsey Unger and Mia Angus did most of the damage at the plate: Unger scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Angus went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Angus has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendalyn Cook, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Northwest Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Northwest Christian pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Gilbert Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Christian will host Bourgade Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gilbert Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Seton Catholic at 6:00 p.m.
