The Forge Christian Fury will challenge the Arvada Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Forge Christian will bounce into Thursday's game after beating The Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Fury blew past the Wildcats 12-1 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Fury as they're now sitting on six straight.
Kaedence Miller was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Peyton Chester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Forge Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Denver North typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Arvada proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 14-2 win.
Alyssa Moreno made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Moreno was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Arvada got a massive performance out of Amiah Picaso, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Picaso has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Abby Lopez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs.
Forge Christian's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Arvada, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Forge Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .432. However, it's not like Arvada struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Forge Christian took their victory against Arvada when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Fury repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
