Softball Game Preview: Strasburg-Franklin Tigers vs. Caldwell Redskins

Strasburg-Franklin has gone a perfect 3-0 against Caldwell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Strasburg-Franklin will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

While Strasburg-Franklin's win against Tuscarawas Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 11th.

Not much got past Lauren Harvey, who gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Tuscarawas Valley off the board. Harvey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Strasburg-Franklin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Becker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Caldwell made sure to put some runs up on the board against Toronto on Thursday. The Redskins blew past the Red Knights 10-0. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

Caldwell is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Everything went Strasburg-Franklin's way against Caldwell when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Strasburg-Franklin made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
