After flying high against the Berrien Rebels last Saturday, the Cook Hornets came back down to earth. Cook took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Worth County. Cook was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Worth County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Cook lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reshauld Tippins, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tippins pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshun McKever, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Worth County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Raymond, who scored 11 points. Raymond continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was ASHTON WILLIAMS, who scored nine points.
Cook's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Worth County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cook won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Jeff Davis at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Jeff Davis has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 203 points over their last three contests. As for Worth County, they will head out on the road to square off against Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumter County has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
