Leading Grundy County/Newtown-Harris to victory were Corbin Axtell and Hunter Miller. Axtell scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Miller scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. It was the first time this season that Miller pulled down eight or more rebounds. Zack Cross was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Winston has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winston won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Mustangs on February 6th.
