Two dominant guards in Jordan Exton and Solomon Lewis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South Tigers will host the Douglass Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South was able to grind out a solid victory over Potomac, taking the game 59-49.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lincoln Nelson, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Exton, who put up 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Douglass waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 73-62.
Douglass' win came from a few key players Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lewis, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. Jelani Lee was another key player, putting up 16 points and five boards.
Douglass was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North only racked up 11 assists.
Douglass' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South and Douglass are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.5 points per game. However, it's not like Douglass struggles in that department as they've been averaging 70.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South came up short against Douglass in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 67-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
