Softball Game Preview: Enumclaw Hornets vs. Decatur Golden Gators

The Enumclaw Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the Decatur Golden Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Enumclaw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Enumclaw and Beamer meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Hornets blew past the Titans 21-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hornets needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Nadia Flaherty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Flaherty was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alyssa Neal was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Otero, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Enumclaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .735. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beamer only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, Decatur unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. Neither they nor Enumclaw could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 tie. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Golden Gators were not able to get on the board.

Enumclaw has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. Decatur's tie makes their record 3-1-1 this season.
