Even though SouthLake Christian Academy scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, the Gaston Day Spartans still came out on top. Gaston Day escaped with a win against SouthLake Christian Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gaston Day.
Gaston Day's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deshawn Coulter, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Kurt Hunter, who scored 17 points.
Gaston Day has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-14.
Gaston Day's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Concord Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Concord Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 354 points over their last five matches. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, SouthLake Christian Academy and Hickory Grove Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
