Whitfield had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it six. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the MICDS Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Tuesday.

Mark Portis was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Parker Walseth was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
As for MICDS, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.
On MICDS' side, Garrett Liberman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Brian Gould was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 4 RBI per game. Eliyah Powell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Whitfield will head out on the road to challenge Duchesne at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for MICDS, they will host De Smet Jesuit at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
