Baseball Recap: Elysian Fields Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ore City, Elysian Fields was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Union Grove Lions by a score of 9-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Yellowjackets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brody Parker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan White, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Tucker Watkins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Elysian Fields' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Union Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10-2 record this season.

Elysian Fields will have a chance to go back-to-back against Union Grove: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
