After flying high against Fellowship Christian Academy last Friday, the Heritage Christian Academy Patriots came back down to earth. Heritage Christian Academy took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Terra Ceia Christian on Thursday. If Heritage Christian Academy hoped to take revenge for the 57-53 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Heritage Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cody Buetow, who scored 13 points. Parker Buetow was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Terra Ceia Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel VanEssendelft, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points VanEssendelft has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Meijer, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds.
Heritage Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Terra Ceia Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Heritage Christian Academy will head out on the road to square off against Calvary Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary Baptist Church is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Terra Ceia Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mount Calvary Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on January 12th. Mount Calvary Christian Academy is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
