Softball Game Preview: Woodlawn Cardinals vs. Cisne Runnin' Lions

Woodlawn has gone a perfect 8-0 against Cisne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cardinals will square off against the Runnin' Lions at 4:15 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Woodlawn and 21 for Cisne dating back to last season.

Woodlawn came into this matchup off a tough 20-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hamilton County by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cardinals have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Woodlawn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaylee Kirkpatrick, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cisne's offense. They lost 24-0 to Waltonville on Tuesday.

Woodlawn's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Cisne, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Woodlawn took their win against Cisne in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
