The San Luis Sidewinders will head out to face off against the Millennium Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. San Luis is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
On Wednesday, San Luis earned a 5-2 win over Cibola.
Erick Espinoza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last five matches.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Arnold Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Jesus Buzani was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millennium, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Mountain Ridge 7-6 on Tuesday.
David Sheppard tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Landon Swinheart was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Perrin, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Millennium hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Ridge struck out eight times.
San Luis pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Millennium, their record now sits at 8-3.
