The defense contributed on the scoring end for
South Stanly (Norwood, N.C.) on Saturday, totaling 14 points as the Rowdy Rebel Bulls beat
East Montgomery (Biscoe, N.C.) 30-6.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the second quarter, the Rowdy Rebel Bulls led 21-0 at the half.
South Stanly expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. SS scored once in the quarter on a rushing touchdown.
The Norwood school put up 21 points in the second quarter en route to the win. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls scored on a rushing touchdown, a defensive touchdown and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
The Eagles'
CJ Robinson played well. The junior wide receiver caught one touchdown.
East Montgomery's lone touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from
Marqys Chambers to Robinson in the fourth quarter.
South Stanly entered the contest giving up 29.2 points per game this year. SS held firm on the defensive front, and kept EM well below the 17.3 points it had been averaging per game.
The Rowdy Rebel Bulls also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 42-0.
South Stanly (5-2) will play a 1A Yadkin Valley game against West Montgomery next week, while East Montgomery (2-5) will take on North Moore also in a 1A Yadkin Valley game.
