Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The West Liberty-Salem Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their rough 50-29 loss to Tri-Village on Friday might stick with them for a while. It was the first time this season that West Liberty-Salem let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, West Liberty-Salem still got an impressive performance from Gabe McGill, who rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns. McGill hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for seven straight games. Miles Hostetler made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Even if they lost, West Liberty-Salem's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Tri-Village's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Carson Poppe and his two sacks.
West Liberty-Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Tri-Village, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
West Liberty-Salem does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tri-Village will look to defend their home field on Friday against Anna at 7:00 p.m. Anna is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
