It was a good run, but the North Schuylkill Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 71-63 to Blue Mountain. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (62), North Schuylkill still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why North Schuylkill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zane Zulkowski. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five assists. That was a full 38.1% of North Schuylkill's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Keiter, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
North Schuylkill's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-6. As for Blue Mountain, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
North Schuylkill won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Panther Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Panther Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Tuesday. As for Blue Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge Jim Thorpe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jim Thorpe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 662nd, while Blue Mountain is ranked 84th).
